Pink Tea Parties

Many people enjoy the daily ritual of an afternoon tea. It can be informal and cozy or formal and elegant. The way your tea would be served depends on the number of guests and the location. Both an informal afternoon tea and a formal afternoon tea is usually served between 2 P.M. and 5 P.M. High Tea, by the way, is not a "fancy" tea as thought by many people. It is called the "working man's supper" because it is served later in the working day, and usually includes meat or a hot dish.

Following are some ideas for special occasion teas including menus and decorating tips. Modify these parties to fit your tastes, budget, and personal ideas.

Shades of Pink Tea Party (Color Based Tea Party)

Decorations:

Dark pink tablecloth covered with a pale pink tablecloth or overlay

Dark pink napkins tied with pale pink ribbon.

Pink china (a pink rose pattern would accent the table nicely)

Vases filled with shades of pink flowers, such as roses

Menu

Raspberry Scones with Raspberry curds

Strawberry Bread

Roasted Red Pepper Sandwiches

Tuna Salad on tomato slices

Berry Custard Tarts (Add a few drops of red food coloring to tint the custard pink)

Teas

Lady Londonberry is a blend of Assam and Ceylon teas flavored with lemon and strawberries and would be a perfect way to start off this tea party served with the scones and strawberry bread.

Strawberry Fields tea or Lemon green would be nice served with the tuna salad and tomato slices.

Tarajulie (Assam) or Mim (Darjeeling) would compliment the strong flavor of the roasted red pepper sandwiches.

Sencha Kyoto Cherry Rose Festival is a sencha based green tea blended with rose petals and cherry flavoring oil.  This tea is light and naturally sweet and would the perfect way to end the desert portion of the tea.

Activities

Include in the invitation for the guests to dress in pink. It will be fun to see all the different shades.

Plan another Shades of Color tea party and choose the appropriate food, teas, and decorating materials.

Favors

A small vase with a pink flower placed at each table setting.

Fill a small jar (one for each guest) with some of the loose leaf tea that you are using for your party and cover the lid with a pink floral fabric and tied with a pink ribbon.
