Honey Apple Tea Party

September is the beginning of autumn and the perfect time for a tea party featuring honey and apples. The weather is still warm enough to have this tea party outdoors in the park or backyard. Use a variety of different apples and herbal honeys to really welcome autumn in style.

Please email any suggestions you would like to pass on to other tea party hosts to tealaden@tealaden.com and they will be added to this page or any other appropriate tea party page.

Honey Apple Tea Party Table Decorations

The decorations can be as simple or elaborate as you would like.

A light apple green tablecloth with light honey brown napkins would make a lovely table setting for this honey apple tea party. Stores like Target and Bed, Bath, and Beyond usually have inexpensive tablecloths and cloth napkins, so you can set a nice table without spending a lot of money.

If planning a relaxed get together, paper napkins and plates are completely acceptable. Fall motif plates and napkins can make a nice table setting that your guest will enjoy.

Bone china cups and saucers are required even for an informal tea. If you do not have enough, request that each of your guests bring their favorite cup and saucer to the tea. A formal tea would require china place settings and linen napkins.

For the centerpiece, place different types of apples in a large clear bowl. Insert leaves and intertwine boughs around the apples. Purchase 3 or 5 bees from a craft store along with long pipe cleaners. Twist the pipe cleaners so that they are not straight and glue one end to one of the bees. Insert the other end of the pipe cleaner into the bowl of apples. Repeat with each of the bees.

Placards for the apple honey tea party can be made using from small clay pots. Write the guests name on the clay pot and decorate with stickers of bees, apples, and honey. Plant a small apple scented geranium in each pot. The guests can take the plant home as one of the party favors.

Honey Apple Tea Party Favors

Tie flavored honey sticks together to make a "bouquet" with green ribbon and place in a small vase. Check craft stores and dollar stores for inexpensive vases.

Apple Tasting

Purchase as many different apple varieties that are available. Slice each variety of apples and place on separate plates. Be sure to leave one whole apple per type. Place the whole apple next to the plate of sliced apples. Make cards that describe each type of apple. For info go to http://www.urbanext.uiuc.edu/apples/ for facts about the different types of apples.

If you like, set out bowls of different flavors of honey for dipping.

To make a game of this, let each guest taste the apples and guess what type it is. You can have a basket of apples for the winner to take home as a special prize.
